Napier

Napier is fast becoming one of New Zealand’s most popular destinations – for the blend of history, culture and cuisine available in the area.

Mostly levelled by an earthquake in the early 1930’s, the town was rebuilt in the style of the time – and now is known as "The Art Deco capital of the world" due to all of the fantastic and unique buildings that feature along the main streets of the city. Hawkes Bay is also home to many pip fruit orchards, and many of New Zealand’s top wineries are located there – offering tastings and fantastic restaurants as well. Various tour options are available to visit these vineyards – ranging from bike trips to small bus tours.

Another feature of the area is the wildlife. Located at nearby Cape Kidnappers is the biggest mainland gannet colony in the world. Take a safari out to the colony and observe the behaviour of these amazing birds up close, as well as seeing some breathtaking scenery of the East Cape.
