And catch up on what's been going on.
24 June 2010
KIA ORA,
We've had the shortest day of the year already, nearly all the snow fields are open around New Zealand and the biggest winter party in New Zealand kicks off tomorrow in Queenstown. So we are well and truely into winter.
Winterfest is a 10 day celebration of Queenstown's unique culture and community with street parties, fireworks, international and local acts, jazz, comedy, Mardi Gras, family fun, a Big Air Invitational and plenty of Mountain Mayhem. So make sure your backpackers get there with Magic!
Grab yourself a hot drink and have a read of what's been going on at Magic.
UPDATE FROM THE SALES TEAM - KERRY TATE
Kia Ora everyone!
Well, winter's officially here, the weather's getting cooler on both sides of the Tasman (it's only 14 degrees in Sydney today!) and New Zealand's opening up as being the Southern Hemisphere's winter wonderland.
I woke up this morning to reports of another big dumping of snow on the Queenstown ski fields, and Mt Hutt is sitting with well over a 1m base. With that, my flights are booked, and in a couple of weeks I'm heading back across the ditch to get some of the epic white stuff!
And what a perfect time of year to explore NZ. Snowcapped peaks, amazing rain-forests and lakes down south. The adrenalin activities of Taupo and cultural centre of Rotorua up north. There's still without a doubt something for everyone. It's also never been cheaper or easier to travel NZ than right now with Magic!
For the rest of June, if backpackers purchase our Northern Discovery Pass, they'll get the Southern Discovery Pass for FREE! They can travel all of NZ for only $439 and while they're there, why not tack on a skiing package in Queenstown starting from only $189 per person.
It is so easy to get down to the South Island with Magic.
We would love to hear from you, so if you have any questions give us a call.

OPERATIONS TEAM UPDATE - MATT WALL
Hi All,
So winter is fully upon us now and the ski resorts are all go! Every day during winter Magic operations keeps a very close eye on any snow or weather warnings in order to make sure our passengers are always safe and arrive smiling. This week snow in the south has kept things interesting for us but our coaches keep on going.
With the winter season in mind I took an opportunity to head out to our last East Overnight trip for the winter out to Gisborne and more specifically our base out East: Tatapouri. I was totally blessed with the weather having two unbelievable sunshine filled days out there. Tatapouri offer some fantastically unique activities including; wild stingray feeding, shark cage diving with hammerheads and Mako sharks, Longbush wine and Waimata cheese tastings, rocksliding and surf lessons/board hire to take on the legendary Gizzy surf breaks.
This is a unique destination for all backpackers and a great chance to see how modern day Maori live. A big thanks to Leo and his team for such a great season and we'll see you again in summer! Remember to get your backpackers out there.
