Outlined below are some of the more famous tracks easily accessed from the Magic coach. New Zealand has 14 National Parks and more than 5million hectares, one third of New Zealand, is protected in parks and reserves. They embody an incredible variety of landscape and vegetation for such a small country.

Maori are the indigenous people of New Zealand. Originally from Polynesia, Maori migrated to New Zealand over 700 years ago. Today Maori make up around 14.6% of the total population of New Zealand. After a period of assimilation in the early 20th Century, much of traditional Maori life was lost. But since the 1970s, Maori culture, language and customs have enjoyed a profound resurgence.

New Zealand was once described by National Geographic as the ‘world in miniature’. In this land of rare natural beauty and breathtaking contrasts you can expect to see towering peaks, rolling farmland, geothermal activity, sandy beaches, fiords, native forests, subtropical islands and ancient glaciers, all within the relatively small confines of the North, South and Stewart Islands. 

As well as offering spectacular natural beauty, New Zealand can satisfy your adventure needs - from the sedate to the extreme. From hiking on one of our glaciers or world famous tracks, swimming with dolphins, fishing, sailing, through to bungy jumping, sky diving and white water rafting - the diverse natural environment makes our country the perfect setting for any type of activity. 

Located in the south-west of the Pacific Ocean and comprising two large islands (the North Island and the South Island) and numerous smaller islands, most noteably Stewart Island and the Chatham Islands. 

New Zealand has a shorter human history than any other country. The precise date of settlement is a matter of debate, but current understanding is that the first arrivals came from East Polynesia in the 13th century. It was not until 1642 that Europeans became aware the land existed. 

The original Polynesian settlers discovered the land on deliberate voyages of exploration, navigating by ocean currents and the winds and stars. The navigator credited in some traditions with discovering New Zealand is Kupe. Some time later the first small groups arrived from Polynesia. Now known as Maori, these tribes did not identify themselves by a collective name until the arrival of Europeans when, to mark their distinction the name Maori, meaning ‘ordinary’, came into use. Large-scale European settlement began in the 1840s, and the subsequent social, political and economic changes have moved New Zealand from British colonial outpost to multicultural Pacific nation.

Leaving Taupo we stop at the magnificent Huka Falls for a brief photo stop before we make our way to Rotorua to drop off and pick up passengers who want to stay there. Then our north bound buses will stop in at the Magic Forest giving passengers a chance to walk through the growing forest and also to learn a little about conservation. The next stop is at the chilled out beach town of Mt Maunganui. Here passengers have a little time to relax on the beautiful beaches and soak up the atmosphere of this iconic Kiwi holiday destination, before heading back to Auckland.

We have refreshed this day and added more attractions as our passengers to travel up the heart of the North Island. Our first stop along the way is at Mt Bruce, the National Wildlife Centre. Here our passengers will get up close and personal with kiwis and other unique NZ wildlife. Leaving Mt Bruce we then make our way to the iconic Tui Brewery in Mangatainoka. The passengers can taste the different Tui beers at the bar and enjoy a bite to eat at the café. We then head along the spectacular Desert Road and past Tongariro National Park, stopping for photos and taking in some of New Zealand’s most breath-taking scenery. It’s great for passengers because they really can make the most of the North Island in a short time.

How It Works

It’s simple! you Hop-on and Hop-off anywhere on our New Zealand network. From top to bottom, we run an extensive network of coaches that circulate around the highways and byways of New Zealand, taking in all there is to see and do. How much or how little of the network you utilise is up to you, what you want to see and the travel pass you buy. You can hop-off anywhere around that network, and get back on when the next bus comes through, or whenever you’re ready to. Each travel pass has a minimum number of days it takes to complete and once you start your travel you’ve got up to 12 months to finish. Our friendly drivers also act as guides, offering help and advice when and where you need it to get the most out of your New Zealand travel.

• Sand Boarding 90 Mile Beach
  Climb up giant sand dunes, jump onboard a bogie board and slide down at high speeds into the Te Paki stream below. It’s a total rush!

• Tane Mahuta Lord of the Forest
  Get up close to this giant Kauri tree, estimated to be between 1250 and 2500 years old and very important to Maori mythology. 

• Realm of Tane Rotorua
  The Realm of Tane is heartfelt cultural welcome to Rotorua, taking you on a journey through Maori culture, mythology and stories. To follow this you can try the superb Tamaki Maori Hangi and Concert, a cultural experience not to be missed. 

• Tongariro National Park – Ngaruahoe/Mt.Doom views
  New Zealand’s first national park – with dual World Heritage status due to its cultural and natural significance. Some amazing photo opportunities of the 3 volcanoes – Tongariro, Ruapehu and Ngaruahoe (as see in Lord of the Rings as Mt Doom)

• Mt. Victoria + City Sights, Wellington
  A prominent feature of the Wellington landscape. From here you get a panoramic view of the capital city, as well as the harbour and Cook Strait. A great change to get your bearings and take some great photos
• Te Papa Museum of New Zealand                                                                                                                                                      Te Papa, New Zealand's innovative and interactive national museum, is located on Wellington’s stunning waterfront. Te Papa's permanent exhibitions celebrate New Zealand’s diverse art and visual culture, history, geology, natural environment and the stories of Pacific and Māori culture. 

• Ross, pioneer gold mining town
  The biggest gold nugget in New Zealand was found here, and much of the history of this relaxed West Coast town is related to the presence of gold in the surrounding lands.

• Kawarau Bridge bungy viewing
  Visit the historic bridge – saved from demolition by the bungy site – and watch people throw themselves toward the Shotover River, over 40m below. An entertaining and exhilirating experience.
   
• Tekapo Church of the Good Shepherd & Bronze Dog
  New Zealand icons combined – the Church of the Good Shepherd - one of New Zealand’s most photographed buildings, where people from around the world come to get married, and the Bronze Dog statue. This commemorates the service to the region provided by the loyal collie dog.

More Free Walks Along the Way

New Zealand is a mecca for those looking for some of the best walks in the world. If there’s somewhere to walk along the Magic route, we’ll walk it. These are some of the great short walks that you can do while you travel around with Magic.

• Moeraki Boulders Giant Marbles
  Do some compulsory rock hopping on the Maoraki Boulders, giant marble shaped rocks and the only ones with such a composition in the entire world. Combine this awesome scenic walk and a chance for some excellent pics.

• Ruakuri Cave Walk Waitomo
  This loop walk takes you through the Ruakuri Scenic Reserve alongside the Waitomo Stream, past limestone outcrops, small caves and through a natural tunnel. It’s a place of strong spiritual and cultural significance to Maori and at night glowworms light the banks of the track.

• Huka Falls Walk Taupo
  This walk takes you past the Taupo Bungy site, a Spa Thermal Park and a hot water stream, but you hear the highlight of the walk before you see it. The water turns a clear blue to brilliant white and there are loads of viewing spots to admire these thunderous falls and watch the jet boat tours do stunts quite near the base of the falls.

• Waipoua Kauri Forest
  The forests of Waipoua are the garden of Tane Mahuta, Lord of the Forest. This forest contains three quarters of New Zealand’s remaining kauri trees. Walk to the largest of all, Tane Mahuta (God of the Forest) and learn why it represents one of Maori mythology’s most important figures.

• Mount John Lake Tekapo
  Walk around the lakeside of Lake Tekapo to the heights of Mt John for panoramic views of the lake and surrounding Southern Alps.

• Pukakaiki Pancake Rocks
  This short walk takes you to one of New Zealand’s must see natural attractions. One of the most unusual features on the west coast – columns of limestone resembling stacks of pancakes, with some blowholes thrown in for good measure.

• Lake Matheson Mirror Lake
  Called the jewel in the crown of New Zealand’s scenic wonders’ – this lake offers amazing reflective views of the Southern Alps set among native forest. Possibly the best photo stop in the country.

• Cape Foulwind Walk & Seal Colony
  The name is perfect because of the little bit whiffy Fur Seal breeding colony and also because it is the name that Captain Cook gave the area after his ship was blown off course. The walk along cliffs gives you great views of the seals and awesome views of rugged West Coast.

• Ohau Point Seal Colony
  Just off the road on the coastal stretch between Blenheim and Kaikoura, you can walk up the little path and see seals basking in the sun, swimming and playing in the water and get up close to nature.

• Kaikoura Seal Colony
  A great introduction to the plentiful marine life in this area; visit a permanent land-based colony of New Zealand Fur Seals - see them in their natural environment.

• Truman Track walk
  One of New Zealand’s best kept secrets – a scenic hike through native bush to a hidden cove – amazing scenery and tranquil surroundings.

This season we have some awesome changes to the Magic itinerary – we think it will make the Magic trip even better!

SOUTH BOUND CHANGES

• Coromandel
  We will soon join up with a local Hop on Hop off tour which will open up the Coromandel peninsula to Magic travellers.  We will be departing Auckland half an hour earlier to give our passengers plenty of time to meet the Coromandel buses and more time in Rotoroa to take part in activities in the afternoon. 

• East Escape Connection 
  Starts: Rotorua, Finishes: Rotorua, Departs Thursday & Sunday, Minimum days: 2 
  Our East Escape trip has been a great success so this year and we’ve decided to make it even better so more people can add it onto their trip. We will be changing it to an overnight trip from Rotorua. We will still take in all the best bits of the beautiful East Coast, as well as giving passengers plenty of time to do the unique activities such as rock sliding, shark diving and even a free surfing lesson.

• Rotorua - Taupo 
  We have listened to the feedback from our passengers and they have told us they wanted to spend more time in Rotorua... So we are now departing Rotorua later in the morning, our first pick up is now 11.15am. This gives our passengers enough time to take part in more activities like Kaitaki Rafting and Zorbing. Even with the later departure our passengers still have loads of time to explore Huka Falls, feel the thrill of the Huka Falls Jet and the Taupo Bungy, skydive over the lake and much more. This day now allows passengers to take their time and really enjoy two of the North Islands biggest tourist destinations.

SOUTH ISLAND CHANGES

• Franz Josef – Wanaka
  Due to very popular request we will now overnight in Wanaka! This great little town has so much to offer and is full of things to see and do. Jump out of a plane with Skydive Wanaka, get lost in Puzzling World and catch a movie at the classic Paradiso Cinema, not to mention the amazing scenery. Passengers can finish the night off in style at one of the many great bars in Wanaka. We will have heaps of time to explore the magnificent West Coast, making plenty of photo stops along the way!

• Wanaka – Queenstown
  This will be a new day for us! We will mix the beautiful scenery of Central Otago, with some of the most iconic adrenalin activities of Queenstown. We will stop at the historic Kawarau bridge for those who want to bungy. Then we head to Arrowtown to soak in the atmosphere of this quaint town. Onwards to Shotover Jet for a chance to blast on the river before finally getting to Queenstown. What a day!

• Lake Tekapo – Christchurch – Kaikoura
  Due to the recent events, we will not overnight in Christchurch for the coming season. After leaving Lake Tekapo in the morning we make our way into Christchurch just before lunch where we make 3 stops, one at the Antarctic Centre near the Airport one at the Jailhouse Backpackers and the final stop at Kiwi Base Camp. The coach will then make its way up the coast to Kaikoura. Passengers will spend 2 nights here which gives you plenty of time to go Whale Watching, Dolphin swimming or fishing on a private charter boat.

Magic Travellers Network is een flexibel bus netwerk, ontwikkeld voor de onafhankelijke reiziger. Magic voorziet in een groot aantal passen die je langs de hoogtepunten in Nieuw Zeeland voort. Alle passen zijn geldig voor 12 maanden en je kan op elke plaats op de bus route zo vaak op en af stappen als je maar wil. We brengen je bij je accommodatie en halen je daar ook weer op, en gedurende de reis nemen we de tijd om alle  interessante bezienswaardigheden te bekijken. We weten dat je er het meeste uit wilt halen gedurende je tijd in dit  schitterende land, en wij zijn er op voorbereid om je dit aan te bieden "Our New Zealand – your way".

MEEST GESTELDE VRAGEN

1. Wat is een 24-uur seat garantie?
Zodra dat je je reis begint met je Magic Pass, het enige wat je hoeft te doen is ons 24 uur van te voren informeren wat je volgende reisdatum is en wij garanderen je een plaats in de bus. Dit geeft je een grotere flexibiteit om de  bus op en af te stappen en ter plaatse te beslissen hoe lang je in elke plaats wilt verblijven.

2. Wat zijn "overnight stops"? 
De "overnight stops" staan aangegeven door middel van gele stippen op de kaart/brochure. Ze geven voor elke nacht de rustplaats aan van de bus (en chauffeur) en zijn dus als het ware verplichte stops.

3. Kan Magic algemene accomodatie garanderen?
Magic is niet is staat algemene accomodatie te garanderen, doch onze chauffeurs zijn meer dan welwillend om je te assisteren met je reserveringen gedurende je reis. Als je reist volgende een strikt schema, of gedurende de zomer maanden, dan adviseren wij je accomodatie vooruit te boeken in de verschillende populaire bestemmingen. Wij adviseren je dit ook te doen als je specifiek een één –of tweepersoons kamer wilt reserveren.

4. Hoe boek ik mijn activiteiten?
Aan boord van iedere Magic bus wordt een gids aangeboden met daarin de voorhande zijnde accomodatie en activiteiten in elke plaats op de route. Inclusief de gegevens zodat je zelf kan bellen en reserveren, of onze  chauffers zijn zeer welwillend om je te helpen met het maken van reserveringen.

5. Hoe werken de "Highlights Packages"? Is accomodatie gegarandeerd? 
"Highlights Packages" zijn vooruit geboekte accomodatie pakketten, waarbij gebruik gemaakt wordt van de YHA hostels in Nieuw Zeeland. "Highlights Passes" kunnen alleen buiten Nieuw Zeeland aangeschaft worden en moeten minimaal 72 uur van te voren geboekt worden om accommodatie te garanderen. Daar deze passen vooruit geboekt zijn, wordt er  NZ$ 40,00 in rekening gebracht voor veranderingen die worden gemaakt in de "Hightlights Packages".

6. Is de prijs van de Interisland ferry en de trein reizen bij de prijs inbegrepen? 
Bij de "Highlight Packages" is de veerboot inbegrepen, waar aangegeven. Bij de andere passen is prijs van de veerboot niet inbegrepen. Alle passen waarbij de treinreis aangegeven staat, hebben de prijs hierbij wel inbegrepen.

7. Zijn binnenlandse vluchten in Nieuw Zeeland bij de prijs inbegrepen? 
Bij de "Coach Passes" en "Jet Passes" is de prijs van een binnenlandse vlucht in Nieuw Zeeland inbegrepen. Deze zijn ideaal als je weinig tijd heb en je zowel aankomt als vertrekt van dezelfde bestemming.

8. Zijn maaltijden inbegrepen?
Maaltijden zijn niet bij de prijs van de pas inbegrepen. Echter, de chauffers van Magic stoppen onderweg voor jouw gemak bij locale supermarkten, de groenteboer, etc. Zodat je voldoende boodschappen kan inslaan.

9. Op welke dagen vertrekken de "Magic Connections"?
De vertrekdagen voor de "Magic Connections" kunnen variëren, afhankelijk van het seizoen. Kijk voor de laatste informatie aan de bodem van het relevante tijd schema.

10. Als ik niet in een Magic hostel verblijf, wordt ik dan ook opgehaald; waar moet in anders heen?
Magic bussen halen je op en brengen je bij een aantal geselecteerde hostels in elke bestemming. Als je niet bij één van deze hostels verblijft, dan zal je chauffeur je adviseren wat de meest dichtbijzijnde stop is zodat je zelf je  weg daarheen kan vinden voor vertrek.

11. Hoe laat vertrekt de TranzAlpine trein van Christchurch? Hoe kom ik bij het trein station?
De TranzAlpine trein vertrekt vanuit Christchurch om 8.15 uur en arriveert in Greymouth om 12.45 uur. Er is een gratis shuttle vanuit de meeste Christchurch hostels naar het Christchurch trein station. Dus controleer bij de  receptie in het hostel waar je verblijft in Christchurch om uit te vinden waar je kan opstappen voor een gratis shuttle.

12. Wordt ik opgehaald als ik van de Interisland veerboot stap in Picton of Wellington?
Vanuit Wellington naar Picton – De Magic Bus vertrekt om 13.00 uur, dus als je met de veerboot van 9.30 uur reist kan op de Magic Bus stappen die op je wacht bij de ferry terminal in Picton. Je reist dan gelijk door naar  Nelson op dezelfde dag. Als je liever in Picton overnacht, dan kan je de volgende dag op de Magic Bus stappen bij de ferry terminal. 

13. Als we een booking via internet maken, hoe ontvangen we onze tickets? 
Zodra je reservering is bevestigd wordt je voorzien van een boekings referentie (PNR) nummer. Op de eerste dag dat je gebruik maakt van de Magic Bus, voorziet de chauffeur je van een ticket dat je gedurende de hele reis bij  je moet dragen. In het geval je een transport en accomodatie pas heb aangeschaft, dan zullen je reis documenten klaarliggen bij aankomst in je hostel voor de eerste nachten accomodatie.

14. Hoe lang voordat ik mijn reis aanvang moet ik mijn boeking maken? 
Als je een "Highlights Pass" of "Freedom of New Zealand Pass" wil boeken, dan is een minimum van 72 uur  vereist om de boeking te maken en te bevestigen. Om een standaard "Transport Pass" te boeken, is niet nodig om dit zo vroeg van te voren te doen. Echter, gedurende de zomer maanden (november – maart) is het zeker de moeite waard om van te voren te boeken om te garanderen dat je kan vertrekken op de gewenste datum

1. Qu’est ce qu’un siege garantis 24 heures?
Une fois que vous avez commence de voyager avec votre pass Magic, tout ce que vous avez besoin de faire est de nous donner la date de votre prochain voyage 24 heures a l’avance et nous vous garantirons une place dans le bus.Cela vous permet une grande flexibilite d’embarquement et vous pouvez decider combien de temps vous souhaitez passer a chaque endroit.

2. Qu’est ce que sont les arrets de nuit?
Les arrets de nuit sont indiques par les points jaune sur la carte. Ce sont les arrets de nuit du car (et du chauffeur) et ces arrets sont obligatoires.

3. Magic peut-il garantir vos logements?
Magic n’est pas capable de garantir vos logements, cependant nos chauffeurs seront plus que pret a vous aider dans vos reservations au long de votre voyage. Si vous avez un emploi du temps strict, ou pendant les mois d’ete, il est preferable de reserver a l’avance pour les destinations les plus frequentees. Il est aussi conseille de reserver a l’avance votre logement si vous voulez une chanbre simple ou double.

4. Comment reserver mes activites?
A bord de chaque car Magic vous trouverez un guide detaille des logements et activites a chaque destinations sur le circuit Magic. Les coordonnees sont
incluessi vous souhaitez appeler et reserver vos propres activites, ou le chauffeur sera heureux de vous aider dans vos reservations.

5. Comment marche les Highlights packages? Les logements sont ils garantis?
Les Highlights packages sont des offres comprenant des logements pre-reserves utilisant les hotels YHA en Nouvelle Zelande. Ces pass ne peuvent etre achetes qu’en dehors de Nouvelle Zelande au moins 72 heures a l’avance.

6. Est ce que le prix du ferry Interisland et celui des voyages en train sont inclus dans le prix?
Les Highlights packages comprennent le prix ferry ou il est necessaire.Les autres pass ne comprennent pas le prix du ferry.Tous les pass indiquant
un voyage en train ont le prix de ce voyage inclus dans le prix.

7. Les vols domestics en Nouvelle Zelande sont-ils inclus dans le prix?
Les pass Coach and Jet comprennent un vol en Nouvelle Zelande. Ils sont ideaux si vous possedez un temps limites et si vous arrivez et repartez de la
meme destination.

8. Les repas sont ils inclus?
Les repas ne sont pas inclus dans le prix de votre pass. Les chauffeurs Magic font cependant des arrets pendant le trajet vous permettant de vous approvisionner.

9. Quels sont les jours de depart pour Magic Connections?
Les jours de depart pour Magic Connections peuvent varier en fonction de la saison. Les informations mise a jour sont a consulter au bas des horaires.

10. Si je ne reste pas aux hotels Magic, serais-je recupere, ou ou ai-je besoin d’aller?
Les cars Magic vous deposerons et vous recupererons aux hotels selectionnes a chaque destination. Si vous ne restez pas dans l’un de ces hotels le chauffeur peut alors vous conseiller l’endroit le plus proche pour votre depart.

11. A quelle heure le train TranzAlpine quitte-il Christchurch? Comment se a la gare?
Le train TranzAlpine part de Christchurch a 8.15am et arrive a Greymouth a 12.45pm. Il y a une navette gratuite allant de la plupart des hotels de
Christchurch jusqu’a la gare de Christchurch donc demandez a votre hotel l’endroit ou vous pouvez la prendre.

12. Y aura-t-il une navette a l’arrivee du ferry a Picton ou a Wellington?
.Voyageant de Wellington a Picton-Le car Magic quitte Picton a 1.00pm donc si vous prenez le ferry a 9.30am vous pouvez prendre le car Magic a l’arrivee du ferry a Picton et continuer jusqu’a Nelson le meme jour. Si vous souhaitez passer la nuit a Picton vous pouvez rejoindre le car Magic a l’arrivee du ferry le lendemain.
.Voyageant de Picton a Wellington-Les cars Magic arrivent a Picton a l’heure pour le ferry de 1.30pm jusqu’a Wellington.Vous aurez besoin de passer la nuit a Wellington et prendre le car Magic le lendemain matin. A l’arrivee a Wellington vous pouvez prendre une navette gratuite du terminal jusqu’a la gare. De la gare il vous coute environ 2 dollars pouraller jusqu’aux hotels a Wellington.

13. Si nous faisons une reservation par internet, comment recevrons nous nos billets?
Lorsque votre reservation est confirmee on vous fournira un numero de reservation (PNR). Lorsque vous embarquez dans le bus le premier jour de votre voyage le chauffeur vous remettra un ticket que vous devrez garder le reste de votre voyage. Si vous avez achete un pass transport et logement, vos
documents de voyage vous attendrons a l’arrivee a l’hotel les premieres nuits.

14. Combien de temps avant mon voyage ai-je besion de reserver?
Si vous souhaitez reserver les pass Highlights ou Freedom of New Zealand vous devez avoir reserve et confirme au moins 72 heures a l’avance. Pour un pass Transport standart vous n’avez pas besoin de reserver autant a l’avance mais, pendant les mois d’ete (Nov-Mar) il est preferable de reserver aussitot que vous le pouvez pour assurer un depart le jour de votre choix.

Magic non e’ in grado di garantirti una sistemazione generale, in ogni caso i nostri autisti saranno piu’ che lieti di assisterti nel prenotare una sistemazione durante il viaggio. Se hai degli orari rigidi, o durante i mesi estivi, ti e’ consigliato prenotare in anticipo in alcune delle destinazioni piu’ popolari. E’ anche consigliabile prenotare in anticipo la tua sistemazione se richiedi una specifica camera doppia o singola.

4. Dove posso prenotare le mie attivita’?
A bordo del Magic bus puoi trovare un catalogo con tutte le attivita’ possibili in ogni localita’. I dettagli ti verranno forniti quando telefonerai per prenotare l’attivita’, ed anche in questo caso i nostri autisti saranno piu’che lieti di assisterti.

5. Come funziona il pacchetto “Highlights”? La sistemazione e’ garantita?
Il pacchetto “Highlights” ti offre sistemazioni sicure in quanto prenotate in anticipo, negli ostelli YHA situati in tutta la Nuova Zelanda. Puo’ essere acquistato solo all’estero e sono necessarie 72 ore di anticipo per prenotare e confermare il biglietto. Se cambi idea dopo aver confermato il tuo biglietto ti verra’ addebitata una penale di $40.00

1. Il costo del traghetto che collega le due isole e dei viaggi in treno sono inclusi nel prezzo?
Il costo del traghetto e’ incluso nel pacchetto “Highlight” (quando applicabile). Gli altri pass non lo includono. Il costo dei viaggi in treno e’ compreso nei pass quando indicato.

6. I voli interni sono inclusi nel prezzo?
I pass “Coach” e “Jet” includono nel loro prezzo i voli all’interno della Nuova Zelanda. Sono ideali se disponi di un tempo limitato e se arrivi e riparti dalla stessa localita’.

7. I pasti sono inclusi nel prezzo?
I pasti non sono inclusi nel prezzo del tuo pass. Gli autisti di Magic si fermano in convenienti negozi (anche di frutta e verdura) per permetterti di comprare il necessario.

8. In quali giorni parte la “Magic connection”?
I giorni di partenza della “Magic connection” possono variare a seconda della stagione. Per maggiori informazioni controlla la relative tabelle.

9. Se non pernotto in un ostello Magic dove mi venite a riprendere il giorno seguente?
Gli autisti Magic ti lasciano e ti vengono a riprendere in selezionati ostelli. Se non pernotti in uno di questi, l’autista ti informera’ sulla fermata piu’ vicina dalla quale potrai riprendere il pullman il giorno della tua partenza.

10. A che ora il treno transalpino parte da Christchurch? 
Come posso arrivare alla stazione dei treni? Il treno transalpino parte da Christchurch alle 8.15 am, e arriva a Greymouth alle 12.45pm. Da molti degli ostelli di Christchurch partono navette gratuite che li collegano con la stazione dei treni. Controlla se anche dal tuo ostello partono queste navette, o dove devi recarti per prenderle.

11. Qualcuno mi viene a prendere all’arrivo del traghetto a Picton o Wellington?
Da Wellington a Picton: il pullman parte da Picton all’1.00 pm. Se hai viaggiato con il traghetto delle 9.30 am puoi prendere il pullman “Magic” alla stazione dei traghetti lo stesso giorno e continuare per Nelson. Se desideri passare la notte a Picton puoi prendere il bus, sempre alla stazione dei traghetti, il giorno seguente.
Da Picton a Wellington: il Pullman arriva in tempo per permetterti di partire all’ 1.30 pm per Wellington. Puoi decidere di passare la notte a Wellington e prendere il pullman il giorno seguente. Al tuo arrivo a Wellington puoi prendere una navetta gratuita dalla stazione dei traghetti a quella dei treni. Da qui il prezzo per raggiungere gli ostelli e’ di circa 2$.

12. Se prenoto via internet dove ricevero’ i miei biglietti?
Quando la tua prenotazione e’ confermata ti viene fornito un numero (PNR). Una volta iniziato il tuo primo viaggio sul bus l’autista ti rilascera’i tuoi biglietti (che dovrai conservare per tutto il viaggio). Se hai prenotato un pass che include trasporto e sistemazione, i tuoi documenti di viaggio ti verranno rilasciati dall’ostello durante la tua prima notte di soggiorno.

13. Quanto tempo prima dell’inizio del mio viaggio devo prenotare?
Se intendi acquistare un pass “Highlights” o “Freedom of New Zealand” sono necessarie almeno 72 ore di anticipo per prenotare e confermare i tuoi biglietti. Per un pass standard non e’ necessario cosi’ tanto tempo, ma durante i mesi estivi (Nov-Mar) e’ preferibile prenotare con un certo anticipo, per essere sicuro che la data di partenza sia nel giorno da te richiesto.

Discount for Cardholder Terms

Cardholder Price refers to a discounted price available on selected passes and pass types as indicated by the 10% cardholder disc. To be eligible for the Cardholder Price it is required that a YHA Card be purchased during the booking process for your eligible pass, or a valid membership card from one of the below organizations be held.

YHA /  VIP / ISIC / ISE / MAD

If you already hold one of these cards you will be asked for your card number at time of booking. The applicable discount will then be applied. The discount is only available with Magic's National Transport Passes. If you do not hold one of these cards a YHA membership valued at NZD $42 can be purchased along with your pass and your discount applied.

10% Cardholder Discount is not available on already discounted prices. 

Guaranteed Accommodation

Your accommodation is guaranteed - In each overnight stop there is a choice of hostels to stay in. Once you have decided where you want to stay let your driver know when you jump on the bus. The drivers are able to guarantee a bed in a hostel if you give them 24 hours notice. Remember, with our accommodation guarantee your first choice is not guaranteed, so if you have specific requirements, please book in advance.

If you need a single, double or twin room or want to stay at a particular hostel, we suggest you book well in advance to ensure that you get the room and hostel you want. Have your credit card ready as hostels will normally only hold space form you with a credit card number as a guarantee. In the Peak season we recommend you have accommodation booked well in advance.

If you are hopping off the bus in-between destinations along the route, you will need to book your accommodation yourself and check with your driver for the best pick-up point.

If you change your plans remember to cancel any pre-booked accommodation.

Continue your journey for up to 12 months for as often as you like. That’s right, you can complete as many circuits of your pass as you like. Missed something? Want to see and experience bit and pieces again or just want to go round one more time. A great option for those with extended stays in New Zealand or tripping around while on a working holiday.

Unlimited Travel is available on the following Passes. Just look out for the Unlimited Travel icon next to the maps.

Unlimited Travel entitles the pass holder to travel for a 12 month period from the first date of travel in one continuous direction. You can’t backtrack, your journey must follow the prescribed route and repeated circuits can only be commenced upon the full completion of the previous circuit.

You just need to contact the Magic office once each circuit has been completed, provide photographic identification and a new pass will be issued allowing a subsequent circuit.

24 Hour Seat Guarantee

24 Hour Seat Guarantee

As long as you give us at least 24 hours notice we can guarantee you a seat on the bus. So even in the busiest periods through summer and at other peak times you will never be left stranded.

Magic Travellers Network is the only hop on hop off operator to offer a seat guarantee. We know that when you’re done in one place it’s time to leave, and we know how frustrating it can be to have to wait for days sometimes before a space comes free. Especially when your pushed for time. We don’t operate on a first come first served basis, we don’t give priority to those just arrived, we give priority to everyone, so as long as you give us that 24 hours notice. Too easy.

Just check the latest timetable and see when the next bus comes through. If we have to put on another coach to accommodate you, we can, we will and we do! To confirm your onward booking just login to you MyMagic account and select the date of the next sector of your journey. You can also advise your driver when you hop off the bus if you know when you want to travel. Alternatively, call any of our offices listed. When calling any of our offices please have your ticket ready as we will need your PNR number, located in the top right hand corner of your ticket.

If you change your mind it’s no problem, just make the amendment on MyMagic or contact the Magic office and advise us of the change. It is important that you cancel any reservations you no 

longer require as this allows us to plan correctly.

If you fail to reserve your seat within 24 hours and the coach is full you agree to travel on an alternative day. The 24 Hour Seat Guarantee only applies to sectors wholly operated by Magic Travellers Network.

Flexi Beds packages are ideal for those travellers who want the security of knowing you have paid for accommodation and still want the flexibility to travel when and where you want. Choose from a great choice of twelve different Magic Transport Passes combined with 10, 14, 21 or 28 pre-paid YHA hostel accommodation vouchers. Vouchers can be exchanged at any one of YHA's New Zealand hostels and allow you to stay as long as you want. Flexi Beds accommodation is based on a shared basis with linen, duvets and pillows provided. All hostels have modern, fully equipped kitchens and comfortable lounges to relax after a busy and exciting day.

Your Flexi Beds package includes:
